Haven't visited in some time... since the wife took over the Hyundai and we've had no major issues with it. Has about 107,000 miles on the clock now and still running very well, averaging about 21 mpg (down from a peak of about 23 mpg two three or so years ago).
Since I bought it new in 2003 we've replaced the tires, battery, timing belt and front brakes (normal wear and tear) and one of the CV joint covers tore and was replaced under warranty. The only issue open on the books at this time is the seat belt receptacle cover on the driver's seat. Fell apart on us about 6 months ago and just haven't gotten the part yet. Still using synthetic oil and changing the oil every 7k miles or so. Coming up on time to change the timing belt again. :(
Guess we'll hang onto it another year or two because of the economy and all. We test drove an '09 model last year and honestly weren't impressed. And the prices (as compared to 2003)... you just don't get as much bang for the buck anymore.
I'm still driving a '99 Cadillac Concours and lovin' it. Nice car for less than $3k, rides like a dream and has been relatively maintainence free. Just add a quart of oil every 2k miles and your good to go... and gets metter mpg than the Santa Fe. Ain't that a kick in the pants?
