This topic has come up a few time, so I have decided to make it a Sticky Topic, so that it doesn't fall off the forum.
Do you get incredible cavity boom when you open up your sunroof? Are you thinking about buying a wind deflector so that you can enjoy your sunroof, because the wind flutter is too strong? Does it sound like a helicopter is flying over head when you have your sunroof open?
There is a simple fix to this problem that most people are not aware of. As a matter of fact, I wasn't aware about it either up until I saw a post here some time ago. That thread has since fallen off the forum, so I'm reposting the solution.
The OEM Santa Fe Sunroof has a built in pop-up wind deflector. This wind deflector defuses the air to prevent that cavity boom. The wind deflector is only visible when the sunroof is open.
The cavity boom problem is caused by blue packing tape that is supposed to be removed by the dealership, although most often then not it is overlooked. Once this tape had been removed, it should fix your problem. Before you invest any money in a wind deflector, unless you are getting it for looks, you might want to check to see if your pop-up wind deflector still has the blue packing tape installed. Removing it should solve your problem.
