Pulling on the handle is not enough to set off the alarm. The factory alarm that comes with the Santa Fe is not the best but it is a good basic alarm. To hear/test it, unlock the door with your key. That's right, you can only arm and unarm the alarm with the remote control. There are a few other things that the alarm does that are not obvious or in the owner's manual. Here's one: If you are taking something out of the car and your hands are going to be full, arm the car with a door open. You'll hear the doors lock but won't see the lights flash...the alarm is not armed yet. When you close the open door, you will then see the lights flash...the alarm is armed. A great delayed arming function.
