i am not going to argue with you over stuff like headlight bulbs.

my bulbs are direct replacement, same wattage white bulbs.

as for the tail lights.. i am not really worried about them being DOT approved as long and they have a red light, white light, and yellow light of comparable brightness.

government would make almost everything illegal if they could. it almost always funnels money into thier pockets anyway. look at banning cell phone use and replacing it with hands free requirements.

a recent report shows that there is no significant desrease in driver inattention when using the hands free units.. best laid plans of mice and men being what they are... i will take my chances with my tail lights. if worse comes to worse one day i wil be driving a sandstone colored fireball down the road as my headlight and taillight wiring burst into flames. :)

i actually did some research on aftermarket tail lights and thier ability or inability to meet SAE requirements.

most failed because they didnt contain a 2 inch by 2 inch reflector material area on the side of the unit. i am sure this is not going to protect me in an accident.

i am (and have been) very tired of the government 'doing thier part' to 'protect' americans against themselves. it has made us lazy and dependent on laws and requirements and bred an attitude of carelessness in the average joe.

i appreciate your concern for my safety and the safety of on-coming and tailgaiting motorists. but i think there are better places to point your concern...

take a drive on a NYC street one day and look at all the totally unsafe vehicles on the road and the total lack of considertion for other drivers...

driver inattention and inexperience contribute to a bigger piece of the accidet pie than head/tail lights ever could (of course unless said lighting is inoperable)

not slamming you ddloyd... just providing my take on the situation.. at best.. we agree to disagree and when you see my SF rolling down the block with those clear tailights... you can think to yourself.. wow.. those are pretty cool.. but that guy's a dummy cause he's being unsafe.

:) have a good weekend.
