congo is right. Diesels aren't what the US made them into.

I've had two European diesels, the last being a VW TDI. What a package! Torque enough to break the tires loose in second gear, 48 mpg, no black smoke, starts like a gasoline engine (can't even order a heater for it from VW - it isn't necessary). Purrs like a kitten, can't hear any clatter.
The only time I knew it was a diesel is when I'd first start it on a cold morning. I'd see just a hint of black smoke in the garage and hear a few seconds of clatter.

In Europe where diesels are accepted (because they didn't have GM building junk in the 70s) readily, Hyundai has too offer a diesel to compete.
