HEy guys i am santangel or Random to some of you that know me..
first of all i have to say that twolostmids is right on what he says..you sure have better fuel economy and better performance with a cai or a sri..
In a SUV like a SantaFe is better to have a sri(short ram intake) due to the offroad character of the vehicle eg. you might have to pass through water etc etc
On the other hand better airflow brings reduced mpg in all cases..and this happens due to even distribution of air quantity that is mixed with the fuel..
As far as the temperature i have to say that you gain about 1hp if the sucking air is decreased 11C app.Santa Fes stock air intake system recirculates the air from the engine compartment..that means that the whole system is very very restrictive...
My suggestion..either you get the Weapon R Secret intake for santys 2.7 and 3.5..or you could fabricate your own intake but be sure to use the biggest cone filter you can because the motor is big and bigger filter will smooth the whole induction operation...
In my opinion the hood scoop in no way can reduce the temp. of the air that your filter is sucking..The overpressurized air brings result to speed over 150kms so practically the only thing you ll get with a hood scoop is water and possible danger of hydrolocking your motor..
What you could do instead is either locate your filter somewhere cooler or drive a tube from somewhere cooler near to your filters position..
hope these helped you a bit...
IMHO for Santy owners 2.7 and 3.5.
Get the Weapon r secret intake(twolostminds will tell you where to get it)and connect the edge of your airfilter with a tube that brings cool air to it..
HEY 2lost minds can you send me the install pics of weaponR secret intake to the following email??
seaangel@oneway.gr
thanks in advance..
