I just wanted to say hello and thanks to the guys that have installed a sports air filter to their santa fe.
After reading the instructions I couldnt resist and got me an air filter today. It took about 30 minutes to install it (with self made bracket) and the result is more than I ever expected!
I have my santa for 1 1/2 years now and I am really satisfied with the car. The only thing that really sucks is the very poor engine sound. You would never believe that it has a 2.4 litre engine - sounds more like my wifes Peugeot 205...
Now, after installing the air filter, the santa roars (I am already addicted to this sound) and I wonder why I waited 1 1/2 years to get some sound to the car!
The best is: If you accelerate gently and drive "normally" you will not notice a big difference. But once you step on the throttle, you will hear this wonderful deep sound of power... Just what I wanted, because I dont like these tuned loud or screaming engines.
Lets wait and see if I will also notice an increase of fuel economy - that would be the even better result of this mod. In Germany we have to pay 1$ (1,25 Euros) per litre and that sucks even more than poor sound!
Ill keep you informed about the fuel economy.
Anyway - thanks again to the "kings of mod" in this forum. I read a lot in the last few days and have to say, that I learned a lot. Unfortunately we have the TV in Germany, which can be translated as "technical surveillance" (understood that???). Every 2 years you have to bring your car there and they check it for safety. (E.g. blue lights under the car is not allowed)
CU, Uli
